We started at Greater Century Century around then 2003 started Word of Truth International Ministries (WOT) was founded in March of 2005 by Apostle Jimmy & amp; Pastor Nicole Bass. Word of Truth began to grow and soon after opening started with 10 members in a church in Wilson, NC. The call of God was very clear as we went beyond the walls & amp; out into the community. Many lives were changed and souls were saved; the ministry steadily grew. Word of Truth had a heart for the people but soon after the owner of the building that was being rented on New Street made a decision to sell the building to a new owner.
That was not the end, Word of Truth trusted God & amp; the congregation steadily grew to over 25 people even in the midst of a transition. Word of Truth was relocated temporarily to Oaky Grove for 2 years until we found a location at Ample Storage in Wilson, NC where we stayed for over 6 years. The congregation again continued to grow to about 60 members. Word of Truth then became the headquarters/overseer of 2 churches in Africa under Rhema Freedom Covenant. God truly kept his hands on Word of Truth and pushed the church even more to find a permanent home.
Word of Truth decided to consolidate finances and move to a building located at 711 Ward Blvd in Wilson, NC. This building was to serve as a hair salon, community/youth center, & church for Word of Truth. The building required renovations/repairs, but Word of Truth stood united & the work was done. The building seemed to answer all of our prayers due to the square footage and endless possibilities for the congregation and community. After 3 years of community involvement and mind changing services, Word of Truth was told that due to new regulations the building could not serve as multiple occupancies anymore. The church could not operate in this location. Word of Truth took a blow in membership due. The heart of the congregation was hurt because so much love was poured in the church as well as bringing families and the community together.
Throughout all the transitions & even Covid, Word of Truth remained strong and stood on the promises of God. God spoke and Word of Truth listened. Word of Truth began having online services every second & fourth Sunday which allowed us to save and partner with another ministry to have services every first and third Sunday. God blew the mind of His people as membership began to double & individuals who were not members began sowing into the church.
Word of Truth currently has over 70 members including the original members of when the ministry was first birthed. Word of Truth is excited & more than able to embark on the next step which is to purchase a place to call “home”. We have weathered the storm & know that if God said it…we will stand on His Word & believe Him. This has been a humbling 22 years of ministry & we count it all joy. For we know that all things work for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Ministry will not stop, community work will not stop, saving our youth will not stop, taking our streets back will not stop, & neither will our faith.
